Test Prep Resources

  • The CTAP Region IV Test Resources website - with blueprints and released questions for grades 6, 7 , Algebra 1 and CAHSEE and PowerPoint Jeopardy games for CST review for grades 6, 7 and Algebra 1.
  • CST review ctivities from the CTAP Region IV math matrices: Grade 6, Grade 7, Algebra, including videos, games, puzzles, and other engaging activities.

  • Bill Lombard, from Foothill High School in Palo Cedro, CA, has put together a series of PowerPoint presentations and tutorials that may help students and teachers prepare for the mathematics portion of the upcoming STAR test. These presentations are in two formats:
    1. The actual STAR Released Test Questions in PowerPoint/pdf format by grade/course level.
    2. Tutorials showing how to use STAR Released Test Questions to improve testing skills, curriculum, and articulation among different grade levels/courses.

Differentiation of Instruction (DI) - If you are looking for articles and books that address this topic, this site has links to relevant and current information on the DI topic. It also includes resources for DI with English Language Learners. Check it out!

Assessment Resources
Among the many web pages that comprise the Middle School Math Project are those that focus on differentiation of Instruction. The assessment section contains articles about classroom data collection and methodology. It also houses links to pre-assessment tools, quiz sites, rubrics, math journals, identifying learning styles and much more. Check it out!

We know that pictures are worth a thousand words. What about videos? A million words? Since many school districts block YouTube, visit TeacherTube. It's worth it. Since its creation this year, the site now houses hundreds of educational videos.

We use math everyday! Here is a website that focuses on the everyday use of mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Education, the site provides interesting math challenges that middle-school students can do at home with their families. They can also be used at school.

The site is available in English and Spanish. It is one of the CTAP Middle School Math Project team's favorites. Check it out!

Spreadsheets in the math classroom - Dr. Margaret Niess from Oregon State University has developed Scaffolding Math Learning with Spreadsheets with wonderful resources for both teachers and students. Visit Dr. Niess' site and the MSMP data analysis site for other resources in this area.

Southwest Georgia RESA Graphic Organizers - From several locations at the MSMP site, you can go to websites that have math graphic organizers for students and teachers. Southwest Georgia RESA has a series of good math organizers. Since the graphic organizers at the Southwest Gorgia RESA website were created in Word, teachers and students have the option of changing the organizers to meet their needs. After visiting this website, check out the rest of the Graphic Organizer resources at the MSMP site.
