administrators with tools that guide their

The California Learning Resources

Description: This state-funded resource site, include a lesson
builder that can be a valuable tool in district professional
development workshops. |

TICAL: Technology Information Center
for Administrative Leadership http://www.portical.org
This state-funded project provides professional development
for district and site administrators. The TICAL website will
help districts develop a system for administrator professional
development that would provide district and site administrators
with training focused on the leadership of "digital schools." |

TechSETS http://www.techsets.org/
Description: The state-funded TechSETS project has a number
of free resources for schools. It has also negotiated with My
SkillSource to provide online courses at deep discounts to educators.
While most of the courses are technical in nature, for $40,
one can take more than 50 classes from a series that includes
programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well
as Acrobat, Filemaker, and Mac OSX. |

Description: Former classroom teachers and librarians serve
as "SBC education advocates," providing workshops
and presentations for schools and districts. Many of the workshops
are geared toward helping the classroom teacher to integrate
technology and the Internet into curriculum. |

National Semiconductor Global Connections
and Global Connections Online http://www.national.com/training/training.html
Description: Global Connections: Making the Most of the Internet
in Your Classroom is an interactive, leader-led workshop that
introduces K-12 educators to features and functions of the Internet
and ways of using these with students. Combining individual
and small-group work with discussion and demonstration, the
workshop provides hands-on Internet practice within the context
of sample online learning activities to improve teaching and
learning. It is available free to educators in several Bay Area
counties. For educators not living in those counties, Global
Connections Online offers a free Web-based learning environment,
with free subject-specific tutorials. |

Description: ICONnect, sponsored by the American Association
of School Librarians, provides a variety of free online courses
that offer skills to navigate the World Wide Web and use search
engines effectively. It is designed to help educators grapple
