As part of the eLearning program, David Dalton’s 5th grade students are successfully and dramatically integrating the use of laptops into the project-based learning. One exemplary project is the math videos project, “Kids Teaching Kids” in which students make short video clips of math skills (e.g. “Howe to Simplify Fractions,” “How to Multiply Decimals,” etc.). These video clips are loaded onto the laptops and links the appropriate clips into students' Excel-based Math Practice eWorksheets so they get instruction right on their own laptop. The video clips are also available on the classroom webpage. With projects such as this, Mr. Dalton has creatively used technology as a catalyst to engage students in their own learning and to empower them to teach each other.
